Background of the Project: Dhaka - Chittagong highway directly connects Dhaka with the port city, Chittagong. After construction of Jamuna bridge the importance of this highway has become vital. Traffic volume is increasing rapidly day by day. The strategic road section between Dhaka and Dautkandi on Dhaka-chittagong highway is being widened in to 4-lane highway to cope up the increased traffic volume. At present the existing 2-lane Meghna and Meghna-Gumti bridge are not in a position to face the increased traffic volume.

Brief Description of the Project : a) The lengths of 2nd Meghna and 2nd Meghna-Gumti will be 930m and 1410m long respectively.Both the bridges will be 2-lane Prestressed Concrete bridges and will be constructed adjacent to the existing bridges.
