Specific Job Descriptions (Planning and Ferry Construction)

Post : EE (Mechanical Planning & Ferry Construction Division)

Officers under the division :

1. Sub-Divisional Engineer - 1 No.

2. Sub-Assistant Engineer - 3 No.

Personnel specifications :

The post holder must meet the general requirements of an Executive Engineer as specified in the RHD Management Manual and as per recruitment rules.

The candidate for this post should preferably be a qualified Mechanical Engineer with 7 years experience working in the RHD Mechanical Zone. He should have at least 2 years work experience in the field of Planning & Training as well as construction and maintenance of ferries and pontoons and have specialist training in these subjects.

Duties and responsibilities :

In addition to the general responsibilities of the post of Executive Engineer, as specified in the RHD Management Manual, the specific duties relating to this position are detailed below:

1. To process the procurement of new ferries and the rehabilitation of existing ferries.

2. To ensure routine maintenance procedures for ferries and pontoons are carried out in an effective manner.

3. To organise the repair & rehabilitation of engine & Propulsion units.

4. To organise the repair & rehabilitation of ferries & Pontoons.

5. To assist the SE in preparing proposals for the rational allotment of ferries & their operations.

6. To assist the SE in preparing planned preventive maintenance programmes for the ferry sector of RHD.

7. To assist the SE in preparing long and short term plans for the equipment and vehicle sectors in RHD.

8. To prepare PPCPs ,PCPs & PPs for all development projects both foreign and locally funded under the Mechanical Zone.

9. To prepare TAPPs for consultancy services, including these for Foreign aided projects, under the Mechanical Zone.

10. To assist the SE in the planning, implementation monitoring & evaluation of Mechanical Zone Projects.

11. To assist the SE in assessing the annual training needs of the officers and technical staff of the Mechanical Zone and implementing Training programmes through RHDTC.

12. To assist the SE P&P Circle in allocating ADP funds for Mechanical Zone related projects.
